Parish Safeguarding Representatives

The safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults is at the heart of the Church’s mis-sion. There is no place in the Church, or indeed society, for abuse, which can affect people for their entire lives.

The Diocese of Salford recognises the personal dignity and rights of children and vulnerable adults towards whom it has a responsibility and duty of care.

Our Parish, therefore will do everything possible to ensure there is a safe environment for these vulnerable people, and prevent their physical, sexual or emotional abuse. There is a Policy Statement outlining ways in which this is carried out on the notice board in the entrance to the church. You will also find there the contact details of the Diocesan Coordinator for safeguarding as well as those for the current Parish Safeguarding Representatives.

It is most important that if you have any concerns about the welfare of children or vulnerable adults please contact Jon Worthington, our Parish Safeguarding Coordinator at safeguarding@stcuthberts.org.uk.

In line with the Diocesan policies, some parish volunteers are required to have checks made with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is simply to ensure that volunteers pose no risk to our children and more vulnerable parishioners. This process is already well established, and many of our current volunteers have already had DBS checks made. Some of these may require renewal soon. We are updating our records at the moment.
